E&J Gallo Winery - Goodwest Food and Beverage Projects
E&J Gallo Winery
Location: Goodwest Facility - Rancho Cucamonga, CA
Situation: E&J Gallo is the largest family-owned winery in the United States. They contracted Goodwest to rubber line their water filtration vessels. All of the lining materials were required to be FDA compliant, so Goodwest installed a white, soft chlorobutyl rubber lining with food-grade ingredients. The lining also had to be capable of withstanding temperatures up to 130°F while being exposed to sulfuric acid. The slightest pinhole in the lining would allow the acid to come into contact with the steel. At elevated temperatures, this would eat holes in the vessel in a matter of days!
Rubber linings are commonly specified for water filtration vessels because of their proven track record, chemical/temperature resistance, and overall longevity. Goodwest chose a 3/16” thick Blair VE 524WC chlorobutyl rubber lining for the E&J Gallo vessels. The project was completed on-time and on-budget.
